Perennial herb with milky juice, from somewhat fleshy roots.
Grows on disturbed ground, along roadsides, in pastures, and
settled areas. Stems usually several, simple or branched, 6 to
24 inches tall, hairless to hairy Leaves all basal, oblong-lance-shaped,
wavy-toothed or divided, spreading, hairy on both sides. Flowers
yellow, ray. Open in sunny or dull weather. Usually several at
ends of branches.
