2009-2010 ACTION  pLAN

FISH PASSAGE & HABITAT

  • Improve in-stream habitat with barrier removal and large wood placement.
  • Form partnerships with landowners, ODFW, ODOT, ODF and state/federal funding sources to eliminate migration barriers.
  • Place fish carcasses in streams under ODFW direction.

ESTUARY & WETLANDS

  • Conduct biennial estuary cleanup in partnership with other regional organizations.
  • Educate ourselves on the value in mapping eelgrass in the estuary. 
  • Partner with TEP, Lower Nehalem Community Trust, North Coast Land Conservancy and others to conserve and/or acquire available estuarine and watershed areas. 

EDUCATION

  • Sponsor educational presentations as part of meetings.
  • Support TEP’s annual Children’s Clean Water Festival with council resources.
  • Educate ourselves and others about the Chinook decline and limiting factors.

ENJOYING THE WATERSHED

  • Conduct field trips to project sites and watershed places of interest.

RIPARIAN

  • Assist private landowners in planting their riparian areas.
  • Partner with regional, state and federal resources to produce riparian plant resources.
  • Work toward education about and control of noxious weeds such as knotweed.

INSTITUTIONAL

  • Seek Council Support funding sources other than OWEB.
  • Revamp the council web site. 
  • Have an annual potluck for members.
