Yellow VioletViola glabella Perennial. Grows in moist woods and along stream banks. Plant is 4-12 inches tall with spreading, scaly, fleshy rhizome. Leaves are heart-shaped, sharply pointed at tip, up to two inches across, dark green and shiny, toothed. Flowers are yellow, three flower petals with purple lines, lateral pair white bearded, lowest petal well separated from the rest. Flower stem leafless except on uppermost section. Brown seeds in explosive capsule. |
